Пограничный мультисервисный маршрутизатор Juniper M40e серии представляет собой платформу маршрутизации с производительностью 51,2 Гбит/с, а так же высокой плотностью и возможностью использования резервных устройств, предназначенных для специальных задач агрегации доступа высокой плотности и обеспечения работы услуг на границе сети в средних и крупных точках присутствия.
Маршрутизаторы Juniper серии M40e оснащены 8-ю FPC слотами с пропускной способностью 3.2 Гбит/с, а так же 32 PIC блоками.
Платформа Juniper M40e была представлена в феврале 2002 года, как обновление линейки Juniper М40, и имеет ту же плотность портов, но обеспечивает дополнительную избыточность, что в М40 не было. Juniper M40e серия совместима с большинством PICs модулей с M20, M40, M160 моделей.
