E81A is an 8-channel E1 service board that provides the access service for E1 users. It is hot swappable.

E81A provides these principles:
· Auxiliary interface circuit module: isolates, protects, and converts impedance for E1 lines.
· Line interface module: receives E1 signals.
· Logic module: processes E1 services.
· Backplane connector: passes through power for the control board and service boards and transmits service and management signals for them.
