The Cisco Enhanced EtherSwitch Service Modules SM-ES2-15-P is the entry level router blade for the Cisco Integrated Services Routers Generation 2 (ISR2) and offers cost-efficiency solution to meet branch officesmall to midsize business offices needs. SM-ES2-15-P has identical capacity to catalyst 2960 series switch and provides 15 FastEthernet ports and 1 Gigabit Ethernet port in LAN base feature set with POE capability which supplies up to 15.4 Watts per port (802.3af).

The Cisco Enhanced EtherSwitch Service Module runs independently of host router resource, it has their own processors, switching engines, flash memory and own LAN Base IOS to ensure traffic forward beteen service modules over MGF without affecting the router CPU. The integration of Cisco Enhanced EtherSwitch Service Modules with existing router simplifies network management and troubleshooting, enhances scalability, offers investment protection, and minimizes downtime that affects business operations.
